At a luncheon address to members today at the Roseville Skating Center, Minnesota State Education Department Commissioner Alice Seagren said we must reinvent and reinvigorate our State system of education to take students from national leading to world competing.

Seagren laid out Governor Pawlenty's budget and vision for Minnesota's educational system including these four initiatives:
  - "3R" high schools
  - effective teachers for all students
  - closing the achievement gap
  - increased accountability
