The Mermaid Entertainment and Event Center 28 Days From Being Sold

The Mermaid Entertainment and Event Center, an icon in the northern metro for the past 35 years, is set to be sold.  According to long-time owner Charlie Hall, a purchase agreement has been signed with bowling center heavy-weight Harvey Anderson.  If all goes well with Anderson's due diligence process, the sale transaction will take place around April 9.

Anderson owns six bowling centers and plans to purchase the entire Mermaid property, including the hotel and event center.  The property would most likely be run by Anderson's two sons, Michael and Matthew.

The new owners--under the company name Mounds View Bowling--were granted a liquor license by the Mound View City Council yesterday evening.

We have seen many purchase agreements come and go over the years. In recent history, look at how many times we thought Jake's was sold. The perspective buyer is a solid businessman who is looking at every aspect from "the city" to the future of business on County Road 10 to a new bowling center in Blaine and the complex itself. Personally, I would miss Dan and Charlie. They have been and continue to be fantastic community partners, but if a sale is what they desire - we should all help out in whatever way we can.

Grand times at this establishment over the years, bowling tournaments, High School outings, and Best of all some of our most memorable times for the Chambers Gala.

Always professional, with quality in mind, if it sells I will miss Charlie and Tom, however I believe that this will be the turning of the page and a beginning for a new owner that we as a community will welcome with open arms.

Latest news: Charlie Hall has granted the potential purchaser a 15-day extension of the purchase offer for a little extra time in working out the financing arrangements.

Dan and Charlie Hall recently announced that Mermaid ownership is going to stay in their family. All discussions with potential buyers are done. In addition, they have advertised in local newspapers that they will unveil a Vegas-style midway at the Mermaid around the end of summer. "5,000 sq. ft. of fun, games and excitement for the whole family!"
